About Lindeman Island

The sale of Lindeman Island was completed on 26 June 2023.

Lindeman Island is the most southerly of the Whitsunday Islands, off the coast from Airlie Beach.

Comprising a resort and national park, Lindeman Island's resort has remained closed since 31 January 2012, when it endured substantial storm damage from Cyclone Yasi. The buyer expects to redevelop the resort.

McInnes Wilson Lawyers advised the client in all aspects of the sale transaction, including:

  • Disclosure of due diligence material;
  • Drafted a bespoke sale contract for the unique property;
  • Negotiated and amended the sale contract;
  • Assignment of agreements with the Queensland State Government in respect of management of the Island, and assignment of environmental authorities and approvals;
  • Completion of the transaction; and
  • All post-completion matters.
