McInnes Wilson Lawyers has received a citation as a Workplace Gender Equality Agency Employer of Choice.

The WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) citation is a voluntary leading practice recognition program designed to encourage, recognise and promote organisations’ active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces.

The agency administers the Workplace Gender Equality Act, which seeks to ensure gender pay gaps are overcome.

Paul Tully, McInnes Wilson Lawyers’ Managing Director, says receiving the WGEA EOCGE citation signifies our commitment to making our workplace equal.

“In partnership with the University of Queensland, the WGEA produced a report in 2020, which identified EOCGE citation holders are some of Australia’s leading change-makers who are driving and embedding gender equality in their workplaces. I am proud to say that we are now among these change-makers and influencers of their respective industries.”

“Critically, these organisations are delivering on a formula that sees better support structures in place for working families; stronger actions to address pay inequalities; and strategic recruitment and promotion practices that help to encourage the full participation of women at work. ,” said Mary Wooldrige, WGEA Director.

“After passing through our evidence-based benchmarking evaluations, our EOCGE citation holders are officially recognised as some of the best employers in Australia who are committed and dedicated to action in achieving gender equality.

“We extend our congratulations to these leading employers, and look forward to working with them closely to accelerate positive change across Australian workplaces,” Ms Wooldridge added.

The EOCGE citation is a voluntary leading practice recognition program separate from compliance with the Act. Criteria for the citation cover leadership, learning and development, gender remuneration gaps, flexible working and other initiatives to support family responsibilities, employee consultation, preventing sex-based harassment and discrimination, and targets for improving gender equality outcomes.
