Welcome to the Spring Edition of the Legal Link for 2013.

It seems things are really warming up this time of the year whether that be politically, temperature-wise or for top rankings in the McW Footy Tipping Comp!

It was great to see so many participate and do so well (some perhaps somewhat belatedly) in the Tipping Comp. Congratulations to the winning tipster who will take home the prize of $1,000 cash. Congratulations also go to the many lucky monthly random tippers who won their $100 cash prizes. For the balance of the tippers we trust you finished the season strongly and we look forward to having you on board for the 2014 competition. If you missed out this year, – be sure to get on board next year!

In this edition of the Legal Link, we have again tried to provide you with helpful information across a range of areas. Nina Lamprell discusses the different types of insurance available to homeowners while Emily Campbell explains how victims of accidents involving unidentified or unregistered vehicles may still be eligible to make a claim for personal injury. We also have Evelyn Abadines discussing the different legal documents, which may be utilised for people lacking capacity to make decisions for themselves. Leeha James then explains what types of “workers” are eligible to claim workers compensation under a new definition in legislation and Tina Ibraheem provides some important information on the strict time limitations for making a claim for compensation.

This month in “Spotlight on the Community” we focus on Lifeline, a not for profit organisation that provides

24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services to Australians. McInnes Wilson Lawyers is a proud supporter of Lifeline and we are confident that by learning more about this amazing organisation, you will also be able to find some way to support them if ever you are able.

I hope this edition finds you well and the turn of the season brings about some fresh opportunities. Until next time, I wish you all the very best from the team at McInnes Wilson Lawyers.

Principal
