The workshop aims are to:
  • Develop and enhance the capabilities of Rehabilitation Case Managers to analyse the departments liability for workers compensation claims

  • Develop and enhance the capabilities of Rehabilitation Case Managers to prepare relevant and influential employer statements in response to workers’ compensation claims

  • Develop and enhance the capabilities of Rehabilitation Case Managers to identify and gather relevant evidence in relation to workers compensation

  • Positively influence your Agency's workers’ compensation premium by providing Comcare with relevant evidence with which to make informed decisions

Learning outcomes:
  • Understand the difference between an injury and a disease under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 and how each differ in relation to causation
  • Identify issues that are relevant in determining liability under the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988
  • Identify evidence needed to substantiate an employer response denying liability for an ‘injury’ and a ‘disease’
  • An approach ( including templates) to considering and producing an influential employer statement
  • Understanding how agencies can influence outcomes in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal
