Joe is a government and commercial litigation lawyer in our Melbourne office and a member of the Disputes and Insolvency team. He brings deep expertise in administrative law, governance, and both personal and corporate insolvency, developed over a distinguished career spanning government and private practice.
Before joining private practice, Joe held senior executive legal and regulatory roles with the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS) and the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA). At AGS, he advised and acted in high-stakes litigation for Commonwealth agencies, including matters involving administrative and judicial review, insolvency, privacy, taxation, governance, and national security. He was a solicitor assisting a Royal Commission and was awarded an AGS Australia Day Award for his work supporting national security and law enforcement agencies.
At AFSA, Joe was a delegate of the Inspector-General in Bankruptcy, where he made statutory decisions and chaired registration and disciplinary committees under the Bankruptcy Act 1966 (Cth).
In private practice for the past seven years, Joe has acted for government clients, major accounting firms, and corporations in complex commercial disputes and regulatory proceedings. He is skilled in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration, and is known for delivering efficient, strategic outcomes in high-value litigation.
