Damian Lloyd

Damian Lloyd is an accomplished tax and commercial lawyer in McInnes Wilsons' Taxation and Private Advisory team. Damian is also one of Australia’s leading taxation specialists when it comes to the digital economy (including cryptocurrencies and blockchain-related assets).

Prior to his departure from the ATO, Damian provided comprehensive policy advice to the Commissioner of Taxation on the digital economy and represented the ATO on digital asset subcommittees convened by the Council of Financial Regulators. This has allowed him to cultivate deep relationships with government agencies, such as the Department of the Treasury and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, and Damian remains an active contributor in this space.

As a former officer in the ATO’s Tax Avoidance Taskforce, Damian also understands the tax risks faced by complex commercial groups and the avenues available for businesses to obtain tax certainty.
