In recognition of Allison's experience in insurance, health, and medical law, she was appointed as a solicitor member of the Royal Brisbane and Royal Women's District Health Council from 2001 to 2004. In 2004, Allison was appointed by the Queensland Minister for Health as the lawyer member of the Queensland Medical Board until 2007.
