McInnes Wilson Lawyers is committed to making meaningful contributions in the community. Our lawyers offer an extensive range of pro bono legal advice to a number of organisations and individuals who may not otherwise be able to afford premier legal assistance.
Pro Bono Work
In recognition of McInnes Wilson Lawyers’ commitment to the shared professional responsibility to work for the public good and enhance access to justice for those who would not otherwise have access to legal assistance, the firm is a signatory of the National Pro Bono Research Centre’s Aspirational Target for pro bono legal services. As part of this initiative, the firm has provided training to lawyers in the provision of pro bono legal services and to report annually to the National Pro Bono Research Centre on its activities and progress.
Our involvement with Self Representation Service (SRS) is one way that this commitment is demonstrated. This Service aims to assist those who are self represented in civil matters in the Supreme, District and Federal Courts. This also extends to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT).
In addition, the firm offers legal services to assist a number of not-for-profit organisations with their set up and ongoing services.
Brain Injury Foundation
“The moral test of society is how that society treats those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped”
The Brain Injury Foundation (BIF) endeavours to provide assistance and support to individuals with an acquired brain injury and their families.
Acquired brain injury is a complex and individual disability. The brain can be damaged as a result of an accident, a stroke, alcohol or drug abuse, tumours, poisoning, infection and disease, near drowning, hemorrhage, AIDS, and a number of other disorders such as Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Alzheimer's disease.
The Brain Injury Foundation (BIF) was established to support individuals suffering from an acquired brain injury (ACI) and to assist their families in making life a little easier.
