A Queensland Government unit been set up to enforce new land access laws for the coal and gas industries. The laws came into effect last month amid concerns from landholders in the Surat and Bowen Basins about the affect the gas industry's having on water sources. Premier Anna Bligh told Queensland Parliament the 36-member unit will begin work next year and will ensure farmers are treated fairly by mining companies.
